Significance of Words

“He practiced little word games with his tutors to keep his stammering under control. And he learned to measure his words carefully. Payne says he did this because he wanted to think carefully before he spoke, knowing that as a king his words would have special significance.” The statement above was taken from the history of King Baldwin IV. Also known as the leaper king of Jerusalem before the country was fell into the arms of Salahuddin Ayyubi. What I am trying to emphasize here is our words. Our tongue has the power over life and death, those who love speaking will eat its fruit. When we are in anger, words utters out which later we will definitely regret. Nevertheless, the good news is we are able to control our own tongue. None others can.

The word of the wise is always humble. We are yet to learn a lot from the wise. Like how our old folks use to tell us, we have one mouth and two ears. We shall learn how to speak less and learn how to hear more. Below are some scriptures for you to ponder about:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. Luke 5:32

Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. Luke 6:28

Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means to enter it. Luke 18:17

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24

I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. John 8:12

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you… John 15:12

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. Romans 12:10

My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Follow me and I will make you fishes of men. Matthew 4:19

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. Matthew 10:38
